Four Temples stand at the corners of the known world of Candor, each one dedicated to a different god or goddess. In the Northwest is Hyungshu, the Fire God; Northeast is Halliyia, the Water Goddess; Southwest is Haltgad, the Earth Goddess; Southeast is Hior, the Wind God. A giant marble altar stands in the middle of Thrillian, the capital city of Candor, and every year pilgrimages are made to pay respects to the four gods. However, the four pillars aligned at the corners of the temple have mysteriously cracked and the roof has fallen in, and the statues of the deities have turned to piles of ash, ice crystals, dust, and smoke that doesn't fade. All of Candor is shocked and scared by these strange events, and thus a group of would-be heroes from Thrillian take it upon themselves to band together, travelling to the four corners to find out what has happened and how the altar can be saved.

"Ah, no, I haven't..." he said quietly, watching as Norion climbed on. Uncertain still, he imitated Norion's efforts, assuming the warrior had enough experience with the dragon to know what he was doing even if Kanthume didn't. He was careful not to hit the dragon at all with his staff as he got situated on its back and nodded to Norion that he was as ready as he would be.

As the dragon was released the surprised dark magician stepped back, throwing up the hood of his cloak and watching it suspiciously, preparing a spell just in case it wasn't as trained as Norion thought it was. Amazed, Lord Kanthume nodded. "Assuming he agrees to take me with you. Very well then, the first temple is in the icelands of the northwest. We should make that our first stop because I have been to the Fire God's altar before and talked with him, so hopefully he'll agree to help us and tell us anything he knows."

Let's Play

Just thought it would be cool to for people to mention all the games they play online so people can add each other or get referrals or whatever, and so people have something fun to do when they aren't posting on AVID Tongue out

Billy vs. Snakeman - Parody on Naruto mostly, but also Bleach, Death Note, and others. Be a the best ninja!

TribalWars - Train troops to defend your village, build a fortress, and join a tribe to fight to be the ruler of the medieval world. Siduscarmen plays in Worlds 13, 21, and 26.

VileCity - Generic gang crime rpg, perform actions to get experience, train at the gym, gamble formoney or extra points (used to buy bonus items), join or start your own gang and attempt to rule the streets of cyberpunk LA.

Lord Kanthume nodded, satisfied with this quick answer. The man had the look of a warrior about him. The rest of the town quietly murmurred their approval as well, and seemed to think Norion Blaze was brave enough for all of them. Lord Kanthume sighed, disappointed by Thrillian's lack of bravery. They all wanted answers but most of them weren't willing to do the work needed to get the answers. With his faith, Dreasos prayed that he and Norion would receive extra guidance from the gods for being devoted enough out of thousands of people to go on the quest. He stepped away from the altar and marched up to the volunteer, extending a gloved hand wrapped with black bandages all the way up his arm beneath his sleeve.

"Then you and I will go together. Perhaps along the way we will be able to convince others to join us. I am glad to sense no fear in you unlike from many of these people. I have supplies waiting at the inn next to the city gates. Do you have a horse already?" They could walk, but that would take even longer to travel across the country, and Lord Kanthume's magic would be used up too quickly if they used it to travel large distances, leaving him unable to fight as well since dark magic was his specialty.

question

October 13, 2008 by siduscarmen

Probably doesn't matter, I guess, but would anyone care if I also used the same plots I made on here on the roleplayerguild site? I think it might get people from there to come over here

Re: Quest of Four Pillars

October 13, 2008 by siduscarmen

Standing in the ruins of the temple, a man with a dark cloak covering his face stared grimly at the destroyed pillars. He shook his head sadly. Many other people were there as well, staring around, and several looked to him as if waiting for him to tell them how to magically fix things. He was a dark magician, and a holy man, but he couldn't work that kind of miracle. Obviously something had upset each and all of the four gods. Lord Kanthume walked up to the altar still standing in the center, raising his staff of bones to get the attention of the crowd.

"Fellow citizens, it is clear we must make amends with The Four. I myself will go to the great temples dedicated to each of them to find out what has happened. Who will go with me?" He waited to see if any of Thrillian's people would actually have the courage and faith to go on such a long and uncertain quest, since dealing with gods and goddesses was bound to be dangerous.

AVID (changed to capslock-version because, well, I liked it better and it's not really established yet) has its first member, Akumaorion. Woohoo! I'd urge anybody who stumbles across here intentionally or not to join the support.lefora.com forums, by the way, very helpful and fast answers from the lefora gang and they will post when updates have occurred. Sitewise, haven't done much other than add my own character sheet onto "Unravelled" in VF. Been thinking of hosting a poll to see if Rookie/Veteran should be changed to something like Beginner/Advanced or Casual/Serious, something like that, or if Rookie and Vet are good as such. Comments on this anyone? Been advertising by hanging in support with AVID linked in my signature, plus the Promote Your Forum board, and also made it my signature over on www.roleplayerguild.com

Wednesday 08 October 2008
Welcome Firerasendori! And any other guests who haven't joined yet. At the moment there's not much to update, which is why I haven't. Self-explanatory. Chose to remove EPIC category until there are actually ongoing threads and at least 10 members. At 5 members I will (attempt) putting up a background image and tweaking the CSS so that a background would be more visible. Going to put up a poll or two... as soon as I remember what I wanted to poll. Please, feel free to post anything you want (within reason) in General or start an RP of your own, you don't have to join an admin board :)
ETA: Oops, FAQ board used to be Admin-only, I have fixed it so anyone can start a topic there to ask questions.

Sorry I've not been around past few days -- midterm exams at college right now. They shall be over come Thursday, however, so don't worry too much about it, jsut have patience with me 'til testing is done.

Name: Dreasos Morall Kanthume (Sir Dreasos or Lord Kanthume)
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Power/skills:Dark magic and summoning
Other stuff: The ex-vicar of a small church dedicated to the afterlife and underworld, Lord Kanthume was now working as an ambassador and diplomat between the cities of Candor when the altar was destroyed. Since religion was very important to him he immediately swore to figure out what happened at the temples.

Re: Unravelled: A Redwall RP

Name: Finnbar "Burr" Wavecrest
Gender: Male
Species: River otter
Age: Adolescent
Position: Nothing, he's too young, but likes to think he's a good guardian, running around the top of the wall with a makeshift otter javelin made out of a sharpened stick
Looks: Burr, nicked for his nature of sticking to whatever he gets in mind is the right thing to do and occasional adolescent prickliness (not to mention his current disdain for a pompous name like Finnbar), is just a little bit on the tall side for his age. A growth spurt left his muscles and coordination lagging behind, so right now he's in that skinny clumsy phase of life. His brown fur is an unusually dark shade, without any fading or markings, and his eyes are the same deep brown colour. Typically the otter lad can be found wearing nothing but a pair of belted blue pants. Shirts and vests get in the way of enjoying the sun and wind and his bold notions of defying the elements of nature itself.
Personality: Coming of age, Burr spends much of his time brooding, although he never has been quite as playful as most otters. Still, as a young Abbeybeast and otter alike, he is an outgoing fellow who likes to hope (but not assume) everyone he meets will be on friendly terms. His outlook on life is grey, neither notably optimistic or pessimistic; he accepts things as they come, thinking that this must be the way of the world, and that he is too young to change much. The memory of Martin was always treated a little flippantly by Burr. After all, no one had been visited by the mouse's spirit since long before Burr was born.

The Mission

October 1, 2008 by siduscarmen

Space. Often considered a black void, recent science has discovered countless stars, asteroids, planets, and other geologic formations out there. Neither is it completely black: as God said, let there be light, and thus fiery suns and nebulae in brilliant swirling hues dot the never-ending universe. As so often happens, humans were wrong about another perception of the universe as well. They were not alone in their evolution into sentience, and as could be expected the other sentient beings also developed machines, electronic technology, atmospheric vehicles... and what were simply called spaceships. Just as humans would take captive animals to study in labs or, in ancient times, would trap wild beasts in arenas for sport and games, the alien beings similarly developed a penchant for hunting and physical games.

For better or for worse, the aliens tracked their radar signals to a unique planet, called Earth by its minimally advanced population. Intrigued by the ingenuity displayed by the dominant species, the aliens took a random sample from the planet and swiftly fled beyond the edges of the small solar system. The sample group was drugged upon capture. Temporarily blind and deaf, the samples were then dosed further with anesthesia and sedatives, guaranteeing they would remain ignorantly cooperative as they were taken to the pens. Not knowing what was vital to each individual human's survival, the alien captors chose not to remove anything the humans had in their possessions when they had been abducted.

In the upper level of the interstellar vessel "The Pens" are mixed among a confusing pattern of hallways, massive tanks, and almost constant sentry staff. No human is kept within sensory knowledge of another, whether by distance, soundproof walls, or other means. On their own, they have slowly begun to wake from their forced coma-like states, the drugs wearing off in different orders for each of them. One might wake up with no lingering effects, the sedative having faded mercifully last. Another would wake up, numb to any physical touch and half-blind. The aliens, curious and seeking entertainment, have chosen to use this batch of abductees for sport instead of research. They would return for more humans depending on the performance of these ones.

The sentry staff were called away. The waking humans are completely dependent on themselves. None of them knows if there are others, or how many they are, or how long they've been blacked out for. Trapped in an assortment of pens ranging from glass pens to barbaric alloy-barred cells like in a wild west jail, in a clearly alien environment, each of them has only one mission in mind: Survive escaping.

ooc|
No profile needed, I am trusting you to be at the level to take this seriously and be diverse with your characters. I will be playing the role of the aliens and their ship. Human characters only.

Sometime between now and when the weekend is over I will have added descriptions (simple ones, most likely) of some of the "holding cells" the abducted specimens are currently in.

The Ship is a mystery, its layout, floors, controls, AI, and everything else unknown at the outset so that no one is able to meta. People are free to suggest that, say, a hologram chamber has been found, but it would be overstepping my part as the ship to say what hologram appeared, if the ship's piloting changed (ie, to say the ship landed). Suggest places and I will flesh them out and build upon and around them with objects, beings, et cetera. Finally, this RP will eventually introduce the use of a map -- once you find some form of blueprint on the ship.

If anyone who wants to join has questions please feel free to PM me or ask here.

Pokémon ... Earth?

September 30, 2008 by siduscarmen

What if one day you woke up and saw a pidgey fly by your window, or your dog chasing a meowth out of the yard? Somehow, Pokémon have gotten mixed up in present day America. Gamers, card collectors, movie watchers, and fanfic writers are excited, but they're also all wondering why this has happened. A group of self-appointed trainers each befriend a pokémon as their temporary partner. After running into the other "trainers" they band together to help get the Pokémon back to Kanto and Johto. Several questions are said all over the country: Why have the pocket monsters ended up here? Where is their rightful home? And most importantly, how are they going to get back there?

Rules: No legendaries unless asked to play one, only unevolved pokemon from Kanto or Johto (Red/Blue/Yellow and Gold/Silver/Crystal) are allowed as partners, and yes you only get one.

---

Artemis was woken up by loud barking outside her window. Stupid dog, barking its head off at 8 o'clock on a Saturday morning... Wait a minute, they didn't have a dog, and neither did the neighbours. Artemis leaped out of bed, realizing that something sounded weird about the barking, afraid it was in distress. Not wanting to wander around like a sleepless zombie in her pajamas, she quickly threw on black jeans, a dark green t-shirt, and a light jacket before running barefoot out the back door. She was shocked to see what looked like a small red fox barking at a scared pair of robins. It took a step forward and the little birds flew off. Losing interest in the, the fox sniffed and turned to stare at her, its soft brown eyes unusually large. She didn't even have to see its tails to recognize that it was no ordinary fox.

"A vulpix?!" she exclaimed, stunned. It growled out a "Vvvvul" at her, just as surprised by her outburst as she was by seeing it. She blinked, then stared when it didn't fade away into a dream. Unsure what to do, she ran in the house and shoved on some socks and sneakers. Ignoring her mom's irritated questions, Artemis ran back outside to see if the Vulpix was still there.

"No way..." Then she heard the hedges rustling and saw a spinarak crawling on the leaves. What was going on here? Was she seeing things? "Um, stay!" she yelled at the fox pokémon before dashing inside again to turn on the news. Surely if this was really happening one of the stations would be covering it. Just had to find the right station... as soon as she wrestled the remote away from her sister. Argh! She was wasting time!

Unravelled: A Redwall RP

September 29, 2008 by siduscarmen

Redwall Abbey has been around for decades, headed by a kindly Abbot or Abbess and protected by the sword-wielding Warrior whom Martin speaks to. Alas, the fortress-like building is often under attack by hordes of vermin hoping to claim its bounty for themselves. It has been peaceful far too long, the older and wiser beasts know, a calm before a dreadful storm, but they let the younger beasts be hopeful that the times of battle are over. Unfortunately the elders are right. The Abbess, a motherly mousemaid, spends much of her time with the Record Keeper watching out beyond the heavy gates of the abbey, staring distantly into Mossflower Woods and waiting for trouble to stir the leaves of the spring trees.

Unexpectedly, the trouble came from inside the Abbey itself. One night, lightning struck the rusted weathervane, even though there were no clouds anywhere in the sky. Beneath the light of the bright constellations and a crescent moon like the smile of a cheshire cat, the abbeydwellers gathered in Great Hall where a terrible snapping sound had awoken all the sleeping creatures, young and old, fit and infirm. The ones bearing candles formed a ring around the tapestry of Martin the great hero. Worried whispers ran among the beasts until the Abbess slowly parted the crowd and strode up to the tapestry. Above it Martin's sword had been resting on a noble functioning plaque carved by a pair of squirrels two seasons ago. Now, the sword had clattered to the floor and lay broken clean in two, and the beautifiul tapestry appeared ripped in half down the middle with frayed edges.

And staring at the broken symbols of hope, sat five young Abbeydwellers, not much older than dibbuns, and crying softly as the thin moonlight glittered on the tip of Martin's sword.

Character Creation

September 29, 2008 by siduscarmen

For those of you that don't know how to get started, one of the first things you should do when starting or joining a roleplay is make a character. Your character is who will be talking and doing things, so without them the RP will be pretty dull Tongue out Here then is a quick explanatory guide about the basic things you should know about your character.

Name: What does your character call themself? As always, make sure it fits the kind of roleplay you are joining! Most space pirates probably wouldn't be called Suzie Sparklepants, and a happy-gp-lucky pixie would look silly being named Sir Henry Alfred Wallingsworth III

Age: How old is your character? Usually given in years, unless there is a particular reason not to. How old your character is will affect how others approach them -- you wouldn't treat a 5-year-old orphan and a 60-year-old grandmother of ten the same, would you?

Gender: Boy or girl, basically. Keeps people from telling Suzie that "he" needs to get a haircut Laughing

Looks: Appearance, physical description, etc. Just a quick idea of if they're tall, short, average; skinny, fit, overweight; hair and eye colour; and what clothes they're wearing. Jeans and t-shirt? Cocktail dress? Spandex?

Personality: How your character acts overall. You can also describe quirks, things they like or dislike, etc. Remember, if you state something in your personality, for example "Shy," don't then have your character run around tackling people and giggling!

Thesea re the five main points to always include. Character profiles aren't necessary on Avid unless you want them, of course, but they can sitll be useful. I keep a file of character profiles on my computersothat if I want to sue a character again, Idon't have to re-write everything.

SC's Update List

September 29, 2008 by siduscarmen

Sunday 28 September 2008
Avid Forum is created. Technically open. Unsure how/where best to advertise. Pre-defined category names and descriptions edited; RP categories added. Rules instated for the website and for the specific forums. Probably gonna end up tweaked quite a bit as time goes by. Hi! :D

Monday 29 September 2008
Got a thread up in RO for when people come, yay. Have plans to start one in each of the areas, don't worry, I wouldn't just shove incoming members off by themselves while I sit high and mighty and aloof and whatnot. Tweaked rules, just like I said I would, heh ^^; Also, if the forum looks like there's not many areas, well, there's only so many areas I need at this stage when I'm the only member. Takes time for sites to grow, y'know. Rest assured I do already have additional categories waiting in mind for when the member count expands a bit where it would be useful to have extra areas. Am I going to tell you what those new categories are? ... Maybe later, we'll see.

Tuesday 30 September 2008
Technically it's Wednesday... shh! The advertisement on the lefora support forums has been added on to, listing the four topics I made to kickstart the site. Yes, this means there is a game ready to play in each RP area, sans EPIC, of course. Fantasy Adventure, Pokemon, Redwall, and Space Sci-fi. Tried to vary it up as much as possible for someone who usually sticks to familiar territory, so I hope my effort to offer something different for different folks worked. Goodnight! I have a test tomorrow I was too busy talking about aliens to study for!
